Welcome 'Bramble'

It’s now been six months since we lost our beloved Baggy, and if you’ve read my earlier blog, you’ll know how much he meant to us. At the end of July, after visiting a friend with a gorgeous one- year-old Red Fox Labrador, I came very close to getting a puppy. I even found some online that same day! Mike, ever the voice of reason, told me not to “buy them all” until he got back from walking Ernie (that is my husband's lovely sense of humour!) Deep down, I knew it wasn’t the right time.
But by the start of September, the yearning for another dog had really started to grow. We had initially thought we’d have another male — Baggy had been the perfect first boy, though I’ll admit that might have been beginner’s luck! Now, eleven years older myself, I wasn’t sure how I’d manage an intact male and Ernie together on walks when I was on my own.
After much thought (and chatting with a friend who has two lovely black Labradors), we decided to take the plunge and look for a female black Labrador puppy. And truthfully, finding Bramble was a real find.
When we met her breeder, we saw not only Bramble’s mother, but also her grandmother and great-grandmother — the breeder had kept a puppy from each litter. All three were so beautifully calm, gentle, and full of character.
And so here she is: Bramble. Petite, full of personality, and while she is currently very much a “pee and poo machine,” she’s also Miss Confident — and as I’m quickly learning, that quality gets you a long way in life!
